Jayne Kirkham - Writer
& Producer |
Jayne took up writing at
the age of three with a blue crayon on the wall of a front
porch. It is still her favourite style. Jayne has spent
much of her life working with children and young people,
but started writing professionally in 2000. Her work has
since been broadcast on Radio 4, CBBC, screened at Edinburgh
Film Festival and BIFA nominated. She is currently writing
“Fei”, an animated feature film for Peach
Blossom Media, in the far east, and teaches at the Northern
Film School. When not writing and producing Brown &
Sticky things, Jayne can be found with young people messing
about in kayaks or up mountains - sometimes at the same
time. |

Sarah Bird - Director
& Animator |
Sarah's love of animation
started at the age of five whilst watching a whole host
of Ray Harryhausen monster films. After a stint doing
graphic design, Sarah went on to study at the world renowned
National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth
University and quickly went on to become Lead Animator
at Blue-Zoo Productions. In 2004, she set up AnimNation
in Brighton - an animation company focused on creating
computer animation for broadcast, corporate and online
clients. Her freelance directing and animation work has
been shown on channels such as NickToons, CBBC, CBeebies,
Toon Disney and Channel 4. Through her work she has won
a Gold Award at the New York Film & Video Festival,
helped give a Gold Promax Award to Red Bee Media for Best
Children’s Promo for her animation work on Level
Up, been nominated for DiMA and FITC awards, and has had
short animated films shown at international film festivals
and on BBC News. Sarah runs the Brighton Animators Networking
Group, frequently gives animation career advice to students
and freelancers and sets industry briefs for BA degree
students. |
